Despoina Ganiti was born and raised in Thessaloniki, where from a young age she was introduced to painting and crafts—elements that became an integral part of her life.
Iconography captivated her early on, leading her to pursue four years of studies at iconography schools in Thessaloniki. Through this journey, she discovered the power and symbolism hidden in every detail. At the same time, she apprenticed in folk art at the Youth Crossroads in Toumba, delving deeper into traditional techniques.
Her love for exploration and continuous growth led her to study stained glass and mosaic art for two years at the Cultural Center of Nea Raidestos. Her artistic path also brought her into the enchanting world of puppetry, attending relevant courses at the YMCA (ΧΑΝΘ).
She later completed her studies at the Efklidis School as an assistant art conservator, gaining valuable knowledge about the care and preservation of art over time. For six years, she ran her own workshop in Kato Toumba, where she created artworks and taught, sharing her knowledge and passion with others.
Today, she continues to work with iconography, painting, and wooden crafts—art forms that hold a special place in her heart. For her, art is not merely a profession but a way of life. Through colors and shapes, she tells stories, expresses emotions, and gives form to ideas. Each piece she creates is unique, carrying a part of her soul.
